joint mobilisation

Mobilisation of a joint is a passive movement performed by your physiotherapist using a graded degree of force to glide the surfaces of a stiff joint. The technique is often given with an intermittent rhythmic glide to encourage relaxation of muscles is spasm and lubrication of the joint. The grades of mobilisation range from one to four and depend on the irritability and severity of the condition. Painful and irritable conditions require a grade one technique which is gentle and less deep and chronic conditions require deep stimulating mobilisation.
