acupuncture & dry needling

Traditional acupuncture has been practiced in China for thousands of years.  Needles are inserted at acupuncture points along channels of the body called meridians to treat medical ailments including musculoskeletal disorders. There is a considerable overlap between the traditional acupuncture points and those used in dry needling. This technique is a western modern day adaptation of acupuncture based on anatomy. All our physiotherapists at e s physical health are trained in dry needling. Your physiotherapist will insert needles into areas of painful spasm in muscles known as trigger points. This stimulates touch receptor nerves in the body which in turn desensitises the trigger points. Acupuncture and dry needling are used to treat painful conditions including headaches, backache and muscular pain.
